Decoding the New Code:
How the revisions to the MRIA Code of Conduct and Good Practice affect your business and what you need to do to comply

David W. Stark, CIPP, MRIA Vice-President and Standards Chair

The MRIA modernized its Code of Conduct and Good Practice in 2007 following two rounds of consultation with Association members. The Internet Research section was completely revamped and includes several clauses designed to protect respondent privacy.

A number of new clauses were added to every section of the Code: the general rules of conduct, rules specific to qualitative research, guidelines for interviewing children and young people, and the Code’s disciplinary procedures.

Find out what the revisions to the Code mean and how they affect you.

Also, you’ll hear about the MRIA’s plans to communicate its new Code to members of the media, many of whom have come to expect that all polls should carry a margin of error, even though it is inappropriate and misleading to attach one to polls based on non-probability samples.

Finally, you’ll find out how your Association’s updated Code fits in with other industry standards – such as those of Council of American Survey Research Organization's (CASRO), ESOMAR and the International Standards Organization (ISO).
