CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP TYPES
Corporate Members of MRIA can apply for one of the following membership
types:
A) Corporate Research Agency:
General Definition: Any company which is operating as a business
in Canada and which derives at least 75% of its revenue from the provision
of marketing and survey research or market intelligence services* to
other companies or organizations.
*(Includes consulting services, data collection, data analysis, and adding
value to information)
There are two types of Corporate Research Agency memberships:
Corporate Research Agency - Gold Seal:
Research Agencies which meet the General Definition above and
meet the following two criteria must apply for the Gold Seal Agency category
of membership and go through the Gold Seal Certification Review, if they
wish to become a Corporate Member of MRIA:
1) Have been operating as a business in Canada for at least 24 consecutive
months.
2) Have four or more full-time marketing and survey research or market
intelligence employees.
NOTE: If a Research Agency qualifies for the Gold Seal classification but declines payment of the annual Gold Seal Certification Fees or declines participation in the Gold Seal Certification Process, that Agency will not be eligible for Corporate membership in the Association.
Research Agencies which have fewer than four full-time
marketing and survey research or market intelligence employees and have
been operating in Canada for at least 24 consecutive months have the option
to apply for Corporate Research Agency - Gold Seal membership.
Corporate Research Agency - Basic:
Corporate Research Agency - Basic membership is available to any Research
Agency which meets the General Definition above, but does not meet the
two additional Gold Seal criteria.
B) Corporate Client-Side Researcher (formerly Corporate Research User):
Any company or organization which is the end user of marketing
and survey research or market intelligence information, which it typically
buys from Agencies or conducts itself, to be used for itself.
C) Corporate Business Supplier:
Any company which does not qualify as a Corporate Research Agency
or Corporate Client-Side Researcher and which provides a product or service to the
marketing and survey research or market intelligence industry (i.e. executive
search, software, insurance, sampling, and other product or service providers).
