FINAL NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING
Toronto, Ontario, September 7, 2005
MRIA members are hereby reminded that a Special General
Meeting of members of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association
(MRIA) will be held in the High Park Ballroom of the Toronto Marriott Bloor
Yorkville, 90 Bloor St. East, Toronto, Ontario on Thursday, September 15,
2005 at 6:30 p.m. (local time) for the purpose of considering and passing
amendments to certain governance provisions of the Association's Constitution
and General Bylaw.
The four Bylaw Amendment Resolutions to be voted on at
the Special General Meeting are available on the Association's web site
at www.mria-arim.ca/Events/PDF/BylawAmendment.pdf. Printed copies
of the Bylaw Amendments will also be available at the Special General Meeting.
Also available on the web site is a Proxy
Ballot, for members who will not be able to attend the Special General
Meeting in person, which enables you to appoint another member-in-good-standing
as your proxy, and specify how to vote on the four Resolutions on your behalf.
The purpose of the proposed governance changes is to make
MRIA a stronger Association, which can attract the highest calibre volunteer
leaders and be exemplary in the efficiency and effectiveness of its governance
and management. A Summary of and Rationale for Proposed MRIA Bylaw
Amendments; and the Proposed New MRIA Board Governance Structure
are available on the Association's web site at www.mria-arim.ca/Events/SGM-02.asp.
A Special General Meeting is required at this time to allow
the proposed changes, if passed, to take effect with the nomination and
election process for MRIA's 2006-07 Board of Directors.

Marketing Research and Intelligence Association is sponsoring a President's Tour
event at the Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) on September 21, 2005.
Tim Willis, Assistant Director, Project Renewal, RAM, will speak on the
role of audience research in the revitalization of the Museum. MRIA's National
President, Don Mills, will briefly summarize important developments in the
industry and the recent merger of national market research associations.
Calgary Event
September 22, 2005 - The
Marketing Research and Intelligence Association is sponsoring a President's
Tour lunch event on September 22, 2005. Joanne O'Connell, President,
Alberta Chapter, MRIA will moderate an Interactive Panel Presentation and
"Town Hall" discussion forum on the topic TURNING
INDUSTRY CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES. The panel will include a
representative from Ipsos Reid, an international market research firm; SHAUNA
MOSCOVICH, manager, Customer and Market Research, Telus Communications;
and RICHARD ROBERTS, president and founder of The Praxis Group, a Calgary
based consulting firm. MRIA's National President, Don Mills, will briefly
summarize important developments in the industry and the recent merger of
national market research associations.
