MRIA
launches the world's first Charter of Respondent Rights
On October 3, 2006 the Marketing Research and Intelligence
Association held its first ever "Parliament Hill Day" where members
of the national Board of Directors and Chapter Presidents met with approximately
25 parliamentarians on key issues of concern to the research industry.
This event marks a new proactive phase in MRIA advocacy on behalf of our
members and the industry. That same day, MRIA publicly launched the world's
first Charter of Respondent Rights, a new public accountability and self-regulatory
initiative through which MRIA members articulate their Standards-based commitment
to protect the rights of research participants. For more information,

Ottawa Speakers Series Event: November 23, 2006
Join us on November 23 for a presentation entitled The
Federal Accountability Act (FAA) and Public Opinion Research (POR): Are
You Ready? One section of special interest to public opinion researchers
states that the Government will "instruct all departments and agencies
to conduct risk-based audits of (advertising and) public opinion research
activities and processes." David Ang, The Antima Group and Darren Budd,
PricewaterhouseCoopers, will answer some of the basic questions such as:
"What is a risk based audit?"; "Why should I care about the
FAA?"; and, "What should I do to prepare my organization?".
In addition, we'll share with you lessons learned from other (non POR) organizations
that have to comply with risk based audits, and present an overall approach
you can use to start addressing this upcoming Government regulation.
