Attention all Qualitative Researchers, Suppliers and Users of Qualitative Research
The Qualitative Research Division of the MRIA is planning an interactive qualitative research ideas exchange. This event is the first of its kind and intended to provide a forum where qualitative practitioners, suppliers and buyers can gather to share experiences and ideas. We will learn from each other.
Most of us operate quite independently and seldom have the opportunity to truly share ideas and experiences. This event is structured so that 6 industry experts can share stories and case studies along with some of the tools and techniques that have helped them address the marketing and research challenges they faced. Following these presentations, small groups or “learning circles” (no more than 15 people) will talk, share and review their own ideas and methods for addressing similar challenges.
After an introduction by Jennifer Camelford – Co-President, Ipsos Camelford Graham, presenters and topics will include:
- A Case Study in Advertising Strategy Development (Jason Oke – VP Strategic Planning, Leo Burnett)
- Ethnography Experiences and Tales from the Observation Trenches (Natasha Schleich - cultural anthropologist and ethnographic practitioner, Plunkett Communications)
- Research Consultants – a unique Toronto phenomenon - How to best work with them, what they need, want and when it “works” and doesn’t (Laurie Thompson – Sklar Wilton and Associates)
- Buying Research – Choosing Suppliers - getting the most from your relationships ( 2 client buyers – Kimberlee Niziol Jonas of GSK and Sherry Browne of CIBC)
- Creative Problem Solving and its Applicability to Qualitative Research (Melinda Lehman – Synectics Canada)
- Recruiting – Tales, Trials and Tribulations – How to make sure you get what you need and want when working with your Recruiting Partners (Alana Richman – Research Resources)
Each session will last approximately 45 minutes and you will have the opportunity to select 3 to attend (tough choice!) and it is definitely first come, first served - so sign up early to ensure you get your choices.
