VoxPop: You speak. We listen. Things improve. Information Campaign to educate Canadians about opinion research VoxPop, or, Voice of the People in Latin, is based on the proposition that participation in survey research creates social and economic value for all Canadians. No other vehicle for self-expression even comes close to offering such direct influence over decisions that impact the lives of people, or delivers such tangible value. When you say “yes” to an invitation to participate in opinion research, everyone benefits. Survey respondents contribute to a better, stronger Canada everyday – from influencing public policies that advance the health and welfare of Canadians to new, or refined, products and services that better meet the needs and wants of consumers. VoxPop showcases and celebrates the contributions of survey participants by providing a permanent forum for the views of Canadians via national surveys on subjects of broad interest. Issues to be explored in VoxPop surveys range from a light-hearted look at the state of Canadians’ love relationships to whether people are modifying their lifestyles to protect the environment through greener lifestyles. Poll results will be released nationally to media at regular intervals. VoxPop surveys will give voice to Canadians and be conducted by Canada’s leading research agencies on a volunteer basis. Survey results will be posted on this site as soon as they become available – so be sure to visit the press release page regularly for the latest results and media commentary. VoxPop is also about educating Canadians about their rights as survey participants. Other facets of the campaign include a series of articles, media interviews and speaking engagements to inform and educate Canadians about the rigorous privacy protections afforded survey respondents by MRIA-member research agencies and what people can do to ensure the surveys they are invited to participate in are legitimate. Learn more about your rights as a survey participant and how to protect yourself against telemarketing scams by clicking here. Next time you are asked to participate in a survey consider the good things that happen when your voice is heard by Canada’s decision-makers and say “yes”. If not via a survey, how will you make your opinion count? VoxPop Mission Statement The mission of the MRIA’s VoxPop, or Voice of the People, information campaign is to build public understanding of the power of opinion research to confer influence and create value. VoxPop will give voice to Canadians through surveys and polls and encourage people to say yes when they are asked to participate in quantitative or qualitative research projects. The campaign is rooted in the research industry’s respect for survey respondents and the tangible contributions they make to a stronger Canada everyday. The campaign will advance public understanding of the social and economic value created when Canadians influence government and corporate decision-makers through opinion research. VoxPop will also educate Canadians about their rights as survey respondents and the rigorously enforced code of conduct and ethical practices that governs how survey researchers protect the time and privacy of those who participate in surveys.
