Patricia Davies

Patricia Davies is an award-winning writer who for the past 20 years has provided writing, editing, consulting and training services to large companies, non-profit agencies and government ministries. Her clients include Environics Research Group, Bank of Montreal, the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and Metroland Media Group.

She established her own business, Patricia Davies Communications, following a distinguished career in journalism as an editor at The Globe and Mail and a senior features writer for many Canadian magazines such as Report on Business Magazine, Canadian Business, Chatelaine and Canadian Living. She has won a gold National Magazine Award and was nominated for an Accenture business writing award.

Her goal is clear, concise and interesting writing, whether she is preparing a Board of Directors presentation for a senior executive, writing a series of 500-word case studies on managing change, or teaching a classroom of professionals why convoluted, complex language doesn't impress their clients.

Tom is 'Head of Research Communities' at InSites Consulting and responsible for InSites' global activities in terms of 'community research': thought leadership, steering innovation and business development. InSites builds over 100 private online research communities a year for global clients like Heinz, Unilever, Danone, Philips, Sara Lee, Heineken & many more.

He is a frequently invited speaker at international marketing & research conferences. Leading in-depth workshops and chairing research events (a.o. for MOA & ESOMAR) is among his favorite activities.

Tom published several white papers (ESOMAR), next to articles in academic journals, business books and trade magazines. Besides that, he is an influential blogger/tweeter on industry trends and online research communities.

Recently, Tom was awarded for his work by ESOMAR ("Fernanda Monti Award – Best Congress Paper '09" & 2 times 'Best Paper' at a conference), the American Marketing Association ("4 under 40 – Emerging Leader of the Industry Award '10"), as well as the MRS (Research. 'Tweeter of the Year' 2011).

Next to his work at InSites Consulting, Tom is guest lecturer at several universities and Adjunct Professor at IESEG School of Management (Lille, France) & EHSAL Management School (Brussels, Belgium), where he teaches 'Contemporary Marketing Research Management & Techniques'.

Tom is Co-founder & President of the Belgian research association BAQMaR and on the board of several other professional bodies: ESOMAR's Fringe Factory, MOAbouts' Program Committee & FTO.

David Stark, CIPP/US

David teaches:

David W. Stark is Vice President and Compliance Officer with GfK, the fourth largest marketing research firm globally.

A recognized international expert on privacy legislation and its impact on survey research, David co-authored the MRIA's Privacy Protection Handbook in 2003, and has spoken on privacy topics to major Canadian corporations, the Government of Canada, and at industry conferences in Canada and abroad. He served as President of the MRIA in 2009-10 during which he launched the association's Privacy Forum and advanced the profession's understanding of digital privacy issues. Prior to this, David served as MRIA's Standards Portfolio Chair from 2006 to 2008 during which he authored the MRIA's Charter of Respondent Rights and led a task force that reviewed and updated the association's ethical Code of Conduct.

David has an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in political studies from Queen's University and a Master of Arts degree in political science from McMaster University. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and has earned the association's Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation. In addition, David is an active member of ESOMAR's Professional Standards Committee and its Legal Committee, and he regularly attends the Council of American Survey Research Organization's (CASRO) General Counsel and Privacy Officers' Forum.

Elias Veris, M. Psych, M. Mrktg Mgmt.

Elias teaches:

Elias is ForwaR&D consultant at InSites Consulting, responsible for research and development of new domains and knowledge within research. He currently focuses on bringing mobile research and gamification into the research toolkit at InSites.

Elias is a frequent speaker at national and international events (ESOMAR, among others), and frequently blogs on trends in marketing and research.

He is also involved in Belgium's marketing trade organization (STIMA), where he co-organizes the largest marketing congress of the country.

Elias has a masters' degree in organizational and work psychology at Ghent University, and an additional masters degree in marketing management from the Vlerick business school.
